Contact information

EcoTrails is an independent online project. Email is the only way to reach us, and it reaches the person who actually builds and writes the site.

  • Every message is read. We reply to as many as we can, though we cannot promise a response to all of them.
  • Corrections and bug reports go to the front of the queue.
  • We cannot give advice on a specific route, or confirm whether a particular trail is safe or open. Contact the park service or land manager for that.
  • In an emergency outdoors, contact local emergency services rather than emailing us.

Looking for something specific?

Many questions are already answered on the tools and guides pages, which is usually faster than waiting on a reply.

What to get in touch about

Choosing the right subject helps, and a little detail helps more. Here is what is most useful to include.

Tool feedback

If a calculator gave you a figure that looks wrong, or a checklist missed something obvious, we want to know.

  • Which tool, and what you entered
  • What it gave you, and what you expected
  • Your device and browser, if something broke

Content suggestions

Topics you looked for and could not find, guides that should go deeper, or a tool that ought to exist.

  • The question you were trying to answer
  • Where you looked before ending up here
  • Whether it is a guide or a tool you need

General questions

How a calculation works, why a tool assumes what it does, or anything about the site itself.

  • The page or tool your question is about
  • What you have already tried or read
  • Anything specific about your situation that matters
